Crete Photo Diary #1 Escape to the sun

I took so many photos of my trip to Crete that I thought I would split them into four posts based on topics: arriving at the Villa, exploring the local towns, eating out and visiting the beaches. I'm writing this post while finishing off a glass of ouzo and lemonade - a Greek spirit which tastes a bit like sambuca but nicer. Although it's definitely a love or hate thing! I'm can be one of those people who doesn't realise how good something was until it's over, now I look back at the photos I realise how many good moments there were and how lucky we were with location and accommodation. I found it a bit difficult to switch off from life at home completely but nonetheless it was a lovely holiday with my family. Let's start with the journey there...

Skincare by Alpha-H, a family favourite

I'm feeling refreshed from my holiday to Crete and am back in blogging mode. I'll be popping up some posts on my holiday this week, so be prepared for many photos of sun, sea and food. Don't say I didn't warn you. However today I wanted to concentrate on one of my favourite skincare brands, in case you are in need of some new brand inspiration because as the season shifts, your skin changes with it.

Making my own Bounce protein energy balls (peanut and spirulina version)

I recently tried one of those Bounce energy balls you get from health food stores and larger supermarkets. I enjoyed it but personally found it a bit 'stodgy', hard to chew and generally digest. I can see these being great for someone doing a hardcore workout, but for a daily snack I think they're too dense. That's when I came up with the idea to make my own lighter version. I whipped up a batch on Sunday and brought some in to share with the girls at work for a healthy Monday snack. They may not look picture perfect, but that's because they're so darn good for you. I can assure you they taste good though, and in my opinion they taste a bit less fake than the Bounce balls which have that artificial protein powder taste.

Borough Market & Proud Secret Garden, London

Last Saturday, I spent the day visiting friends in London. It's no secret that I love it there and it's even better visiting when I get to see old friends. It was a perfect day weather wise too which was an added bonus.

Holiday and everyday Boots haul

I'm going to Crete at the end of this week for ten days (woohoo) so I had a trip to Boots to get some holiday essentials, as well as things I had run out of. Why oh why does everything always run out at once?! I thought I would share what I got and the things I'm looking forward to trying out.
